Vice City vehicles: what to take for a race, mission or escape
The fastest car is not automatically the best. A mission depends on acceleration, durability, handling and the ability to pass through a narrow space.
Vehicles are grouped by use, not just maximum speed. With the old physics model, stability in a corner is often more valuable than speed that cannot be maintained in the city anyway.

A practical choice
Durable mission vehicles
In a difficult firefight, choose a more stable car or a special vehicle. Leave a damaged car before it catches fire; an explosion kills Tommy faster than gunfire.
Motorbikes
PCJ-600 is fast and narrow, suited to jumps and moving through traffic. A fall leaves Tommy exposed, however, and can ruin a timed attempt.
Helicopters
Once available, they make collecting packages and travelling between islands considerably faster. Land on level ground and watch the rotor near obstacles.
Boats
They are essential for water checkpoints and some island objectives. They turn with a delay, so approach gates on a wider arc.

Store unusual models
When you encounter a rarer car during the story, put it in a garage. It may appear on one of the lists later.
Search by district
Traffic types vary by area. Expect luxury models in different places from vans, off-road vehicles or work vehicles.
Check the showroom after delivery
Completed lists change the vehicle selection and business income. You do not need to keep a delivered car.

Can Tommy swim in GTA Vice City?
In the original Vice City, Tommy cannot swim and deep water is fatal. Some later ports or mods may change this behaviour.
Where should I store a rare car?
Park it in the garage at an owned property and wait for the door to close. Back up your save before modding.
