Confirmed

PlayStation 5

Announced by Rockstar. Covers the PS5 Pro variant too, which the studio does not mention separately.

Confirmed

Xbox Series X|S

Announced by Rockstar. Both console variants, the Series S included.

What has not been announced

Including what can be inferred from the studio's history

01

PC

Not announced. Rockstar has not said anything at all about a PC version so far.

What Rockstar did before

GTA V came out on consoles in September 2013 and on PC in April 2015 — a gap of roughly eighteen months. Red Dead Redemption 2 had its console premiere in October 2018 and its PC version in November 2019.

What we make of it

A PC version arriving eventually is likely. When, nobody knows — two earlier cases are a pattern, not a rule, and the market has changed since 2015.

02

PS4 and Xbox One

Ruled out. The announcement names current-generation consoles only.

What Rockstar did before

GTA V came out across three generations, but always after the fact, never at launch.

What we make of it

For a game this size, older hardware would not be enough. This is the one platform we are willing to say will not happen.

03

Nintendo Switch

Not announced and never hinted at.

What Rockstar did before

Rockstar has only released older titles on the Switch, never a current-generation entry at launch.

What we make of it

We consider it unlikely, but that is a judgement, not information.
