Some players think Lucia is the dominant half of the pair
Almost every article describes Jason as the criminal who drags Lucia down with him. But viewed shot by shot, the trailer suggests the opposite.
what suggests this
- In the shop robbery scene, Lucia goes first and Jason follows her.
- She kicks the door open.
- In the scene where they discuss trust, she is physically above him — and that is rarely accidental in the composition of a shot.
- Rockstar states that Lucia served time in Leonida Penitentiary. Jason's background includes the military and work for local drug runners, which suggests the position of a foot soldier rather than a boss.
what opposes it
- A trailer is an edit. It shows what is meant to attract attention, not the balance of power in the story.
- In GTA V, Rockstar changed who took the lead depending on the mission. There was no fixed hierarchy.
- A character's position in a shot is an interpretation of the camerawork, not the script. Plenty can be read into it.
what we think of it
The strongest argument here is not the composition of the shot, but Rockstar's own description. Lucia has served time in prison; Jason worked for drug runners. Those are two different levels of experience in the same world. Expecting the more experienced one to lead makes more sense than the reverse — but it is an expectation, not information.
